The Dancing
Umpire
Vincent “Vinny” Chapman calls balls and strikes — and busts a move between every pitch. Stadiums, schools, stages and your next event: wherever he goes, the crowd goes bananas.
An ump who calls a great game — and dances between every pitch.
Vincent “Vinny” Chapman has been calling balls and strikes since he was 15 in East Texas. In 2008 he started dancing between innings to take the pressure off the kids. In 2015 a video of it hit 12 million views. Today he’s the official umpire of Banana Ball, dancing in front of sold-out MLB ballparks and football stadiums across America.
Why people stop & watch
An umpire is supposed to be the villain. Vinny is the guy dancing like nobody’s watching — while 40,000 people are.
Why he’s memorable
Pure joy, zero cynicism, family-friendly — and every moment is built to be filmed and shared.
